Jim Bernheimer

Books, Fanfiction, Original Stories, Writing | Posted by LD May 20th, 2009

I found Jim Bernheimer’s Webpage while reading a rather good Harry Potter fanfiction called “The Lie I’ve Lived” on FFN. IT’s an interesting story and I encourage everyone to go read that.

The man is also working on several original projects, like myself, and has actually published some of them through Amazon.com and other outlets. I encourage everyone to go look at his stuff and support another talented author in anyway they can.

Brainstorming

Writing | Posted by LD November 13th, 2008

I’m just sitting here right now trying to think up story ideas. I’ve got a few things in my head for stories that might be interesting to write. I’m just going to toss out some ideas in my head and then see what sticks. Honestly, I want to try to get a lot of ideas out right now though my brain seems to be running dry. I’ll be making an effort to post some thoughts but mostly I’ll keep my ideas to myself so I can run with them.

We’ll see what comes up as I go. How do you try to drum up original ideas for your stories if you write?

The Anatomy of a Writer’s Website

Books, Writing | Posted by LD November 7th, 2008

Found this article on Writer’s Digest.com and I’ve been using it as a basis to try to improve both DD and Imperium some for future usage. I’m not entirely certain yet what I can do, but I’m going to do it and I’m going to solicit assistance from the general community on how to get where I’m trying to get. I’ll be adding on to both sites and try to make things a bit more professional over time.

Every little bit huh.

An Appraisal of Vampires

Original Stories, Writing | Posted by LD November 3rd, 2008

I’ve finally added real content to the site, or at least a bit more. NO new chapters, but a new little glimpse into the history of the Imperium, and a look into the Vampire mind.

AMV’s, Anime, New Story Ideas

AMVs, Anime, Original Stories | Posted by LD November 2nd, 2008

Been trying to rebuild my collection somewhat. Been looking at the classic anime collection box sets so I’m already making a list of series I want to purchase. I have always loved animated programs, and anime has ALWAYS been one of my favorite genres of animation. Granted, in the US we call the stuff from Japan Anime, while to them, it’s just plain old cartoons.

Fanfiction

Opine | Posted by LD October 28th, 2008

Decided to post a link to all my fanfictions that are currently available on Darkscribes.org. They are all linked on their own page so give them a look and tell me what you think. Comments should be left with the stories on the DS comment system.

LD’s Snippets of how I would handle other peoples Fanfics

Fanfiction | Posted by LD October 27th, 2008

Honestly there are times I read a story and can’t help but see a way I would do it better. I’ve actually gone through once and tried to completely rewrite a story and make it my own in a way. Honestly it was more like me trying to fill out how this one guy did things… and he was rather upset by how well I did with his original idea.

Who know people could get upset about doing better then them with their idea.

This is a snippet of how I would have handled Slayer’s Neon Genesis Goddess: The Second Wish. Here’s hoping he doesn’t get pissed. And I might honestly add to this later just for my own thoughts.

Blogging = Freedom

Opine, Social, Techie, Writing | Posted by LD October 21st, 2008

Apparently someone at Linux Journal took exception to a man saying it was time for the bloggers like myself who are’t professionals to give up and throw out everything related to our work. I guess with everything else out there it makes sense if your not dedicated to somethings.

The whole article is here. Here’s an excerpt for you.

I’ve been blogging since 1999. I’ve also been flickring, facebooking and tweeting for most of the time those services have been around. All are good for some things, but not everything, least of all for what blogging does best.

As personal journals on the Web go, blogs have no substitute. Twitter is fine for 140-character micro-postings, and for the ecosystem surrounding it. But micro-posts are not journals. Flickr is great for posting, tagging, organizing and annotating photographs, and for allied services such as creating groups and the rest of it, but it ain’t blogging. Facebook has some blogging features, but at the cost of forcing the blogger to operate in a vast hive of non-journalistic activity — and flat-out noise.

Story Ideas and Summary’s

Writing | Posted by LD October 16th, 2008

Figured I’d give you folk a quick and dirty update on what I’m working on at the moment. Bunch of stuff going on in my world and I want to talk about it.

Fanfic wise, Forever chapter 2 is proceeding well. Things are progressing nicely and in time hopefully I’ll have it ready for Preread and posting soon. several plot points to come up as well as action and angst. We’ll see what you think when it’s ready.

Neko-Waffers is also proceeding well. I’m trying to come up with a few things to improve my comedy there, as well as some off the wall things. If i’ve jumped the shark, then that’s what I’m going for. Still deciding if my ideas for Gendo are just way too out there. We’ll see.

Everything else is on an as inspired basis. getting a bit more progress on Forgotten Warriors and a few others. Debating a few plot twists for Possessed as well. I want that one done in 2 chapters, with an epilogue.

I’ve also been trying to focus some on Imperium Nocturna. It’s been slow going as I have a thousand different ideas on how to handle that one. It’s not exactly what I would call easy to write something like that. We’ll see what happens as it seems I’m the only one interested.

I’ve also started work on a couple of original stories. One following the Devil on Holiday, another about a young boy taken in by a Yakuza boss. we’ll see how either fare.

Here’s a snippet from Devil’s Holiday

Lucifer just walked into the thrown room and threw himself into his chair. The impressive thrown was simply another artifice that never changed in the eternal sameness. Everything always the same from the cape and cowl he wore to the spiked shoulder guards. The clicking sound of his boots on the stone, the feel of the leather of his pants and satin of his tunic always felt the same. Lucifer simply leaned on his right hand and closed his eyes. The sounds of boots on stone filled his ears as the Archangel Micheal walked in. Lucifer simply stared at him. The white wings and golden armor one could see the perfect reflection of the soul just disgusted the Lord of Darkness. Not because of their purity but because it simply never changed.
“What do you want?” he said in a tired voice.
The holy creature began prattling on about something or another in that superior obey or suffer tone he always used. Lucifer simply nodded appropriately and listened just enough to know that it was nothing important. It was just more mundane shit, and he was expected to sit there and listen to it then say “I understand” and let the angel be on his way.
It was the proverbial straw that broke the camels back. Lucifer stood up as Micheal was in mid sentence and proceeded to leave the room. Micheal was speechless, which gave way to righteous indignation.”Just one moment beast! This is vitally important, you will not turn your back on me and walk away. The Lord expects you to receive this message!”
Lucifer simply turned and looked at him with a tired and disinterested look, “It’s the same message you delivered last week, and the weeks and months and years and centuries before that. Let’s just skip it for today and you can be off.”
Lucifer simply walked past the bookkeeper and muttered, “I’m going for some coffee.”
The Bookkeeper simply stood there stunned as did everyone else.

I should really try to write in this thing more.

Ghosts

Writing | Posted by LD June 23rd, 2008

Ghosts

Nighttime breeze through the broken streets,

shards of glass crushed along the feet.

We walk the boundary between night and day,

forever seen yet unseen in the fray.

The people of day retreating from the rising moon,

they feel the darkness is their doom.

Those who shy from the light of day,

fearing the light will blind their way.

Those ghosts wandering in between,

always seen yet unseen.

They see the coin for what it is,

neither one nor the other but whole and inseparable.

Neither one nor the other,

day and night will not bother.

The ghosts of past and present stand here forever,

watching and waiting along the ether.

Night time predators stalking prey,

Daylight warriors worshiping day.

Ghosts shifting in between,

forever seen yet unseen.
